Systemic Theory

This presentation provides an overview of the origins of Systemic Theories, and the development of therapeutic models that seek to provide vehicles for healing through family therapy. We will review theories originated by Virginia Satir and Murray Bowen. Most specifically, we will look at Salvador Minuchin’s Structural Family Therapy. We will address the theoretical foundations, clinical applications, faith integration, application advancements and ethical considerations of Systemic Theories as a whole. An additional focus considers the benefits and drawbacks of Salvador Minuchin’s Structural Family Therapy (SFT), and the multicultural considerations connected with the approach.
